‘Foil’ Exclusive: Cranked Up Films Acquire The New Sci-Fi Comedy

Foil

Cranked Up Films have acquired worldwide rights to Zach Green and Devin O’Rourke’s sci-fi comedy Foil! The extraterrestrial experience was co-written and stars the two and was directed by Green.

In the film:

Long-lost friends Rex and Dexter opt out of their high school reunion to reconnect on a desert camping trip. Soon they realize their intentions for the weekend are at odds. Dexter, a failed filmmaker, hopes to harness a fabled vortex in the area to inspire a movie idea. Rex, a rebellious conspiracy theorist, plans to investigate a rumored UFO crash believed to explain the anomaly. Tensions boil over when they meet an unusually friendly camper who presents what he claims to be a piece of wreckage from the crash: a mysterious piece of shiny foil.

“We are thrilled to have paired with a dedicated genre label like Cranked Up Films,” says Green. “We’re excited for Midnight-seeking audiences around the world to have a chance to see our feature debut.”

Foil premiered last year at Dances With Films and was an Official Selection at Eastern Oregon Film
Festival and Boston Sci-Fi. It won Best Sci-Fi Feature at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival. The deal was negotiated with the filmmakers by Cranked Up Films and Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films on behalf of Birdshot Pictures.

Chris Doubek, Brian McGuire, Ashley Rae Spillers, Jasmine Wattar, and Ari Stidham star in the film.

Cranked Up releases Foil on VOD starting May 10, 2024.
