Stephen King Sends Elon Musk A Passive Aggressive Message; Musk Responds

Horror author Stephen King is not the number one fan of Elon Musk. Much like the rest of the world, King has been watching Musk ruin Twitter instead of just going to therapy. However, the latest confusing development for the social media site has sent King to the app to leave a passive-aggressive message.

It was announced that Twitter would abruptly change its name to X. The rollout has been confusing, as aside from the logo, nothing has changed. Many people refuse to acknowledge the new name as they make fun of the out-of-touch billionaire. However, Stephen King wanted Musk to know what he thought about this new name.

The Tweet heard around the world was funny, honest, and to the point. It might also be a bit of a subtle nod to The Shining. Specifically when Danny Torrance writes “REDRUM” repeatedly or when Wendy finds Jack’s pages where he’s typed out the same sentence over and over.

We may never know whether or not King knew how much glee we’d all get from this exchange or if he knew his fans would wonder if it was an intentional callback to The Shining. However, we do know that Elon got the message because he responded directly to the post.

See how he responded:

While the reply is not clever, it makes the original post even better. If you somehow missed the Twitter name-change saga, I suggest looking into the mess. It’s confusing, silly, and everything you would expect when an unqualified billionaire buys an app for his vanity.

Let me know if Stephen King’s tweet also caused you to cackle at @misssharai.
