RAMMSTEIN Breaks Russia’s Strict Anti-LGBTQ Laws with Onstage Same-Sex Kiss

Never ones to shy away from controversy, the techno-metal pioneers of Rammstein challenged Russia’s antiquated, anti-LGBTQ policies with a same-sex kiss. Guitarists Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe shared the affectionate gesture in Moscow during the song “Ausländer” (German for “foreigner”, the lyrics and videos have subtext suggesting sexual tourism).

Though the act could technically land Landers and Kruspe in prison, the band is still scheduled to play in St. Petersberg on August 2nd.

This wouldn’t be the first time members of Rammstein have been jailed for their on-stage antics. In 1999, frontman Till Lindemann and keyboardist Flake Lorenz were arrested in Worcester, Massachusetts for performing a simulated sex act.
