John Carpenter’s Asylum To Hit The Long Beach Comic Con and Horror Convention November 23-24

If you’re one of the lucky souls attending the Long Beach Comic Con and Horror Convention this weekend (November 23-24), then you’re not going to want to miss out on some truly awesome merchandise related to John Carpenter’s Asylum. If you can’t make it, fear not! Either way, check it!
Storm King Productions will be bringing their comic book, John Carpenter’s Asylum, to the annual Long Beach Comic Con and Horror Convention this weekend (November 23-24). If you missed this book when it debuted back in May, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase all three newly reprinted issues. But the Storm King booth will also be offering an exclusive “convention signature” edition of issue # 3 that has been pre-signed by John Carpenter.
The Asylum love doesn’t stop there, however, as this convention will see the debut of an animated trailer for the comic. The trailer comes courtesy of artist Leonardo Manco, and is scored by John and Cody Carpenter. Thomas Ian Griffith narrates, in case you were still on the fence about checking Asylum out (you shouldn’t be, it’s really cool).
Per the Storm King press release, Storm King and LBCC have come together to bring the talents of Eric Maruscak, an illustrator who has been appearing at festivals and conventions across the Unites States, making giant chalk murals as performance art, to the convention in Long Beach.
Eric has appeared at the World Science Festival in New York, multiple New York Comic Cons and New York Anime Festivals, and San Diego Comic Con, and C2E2 among others. His works have promoted such productions as the TV series, Revolution, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Eric will create a mural of one of JC’s Asylum’s pages over the course of the two day convention in a space adjacent to Storm King’s booth. He will also record time lapse video of the entire process which will be posted online not long after the event.
If you’re into some of the Master of Horror’s other projects, you’ll also have an opportunity to snag some super cool posters.
In honor of the 35th Anniversary of the release of the movie Halloween and following a now three-year tradition of partnership with the Hero Initiative at LBCC, Storm King will also have available at its booth special limited edition, exclusive posters designed by comic book artist Darick Robertson and signed by both the artist and John Carpenter with all proceeds going to benefit the Hero Initiative. There will also be a second art poster honoring They Live designed by John J. Hill, also to benefit the Hero Initiative.
CEO of Storm King Productions and Co-Creator and editor of John Carpenter’s Asylum, Sandy King, will be on hand at booth 913 both days of the convention. You should absolutely make sure to stop by, say hello and check out some of the amazing offerings. And for those of you who can’t make it (like me), be sure to check the Storm King Productions official site after the convention for an opportunity to purchase some of this stuff in limited quantity.
