Dread Central recently sat down with Thomas Hamilton, the director behind Boris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster documentary. Now that the unmissable horror doc has graced Shudder, we’ve picked Hamilton’s brain about the most famous face in the history of horror.

Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster is a definitive deep dive into the life of Karloff, the man who really brought Frankenstein’s monster to life. The acclaimed documentary was produced by Ron MacCloskey and is available to watch now on Shudder. Some of the more famous names interviewed for this film include Guillermo del Toro, John Landis, Joe Dante, Christopher Plummer, Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Perlman, Leonard Maltin, Christopher Frayling, Sara Karloff, and Roger Corman.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating elements of this documentary was its access to Sara Karloff, the daughter of Boris. Thomas Hamilton tells us about how he got to know Sara during production and the totally unique insight she gave in to the life of one the most celebrated names in horror.
