Resident Evil Heading to the Stage

Um, yeah. This is one piece of news we never thought we’d be reporting. Resident Evil (or Biohazard, as it’s known in its native Japan) will be heading to the stage. Because everything about blasting zombies and giant mutated creatures to pieces screams Broadway theatre.

Called Biohazard: The Stage, the play will follow an original story about a viral outbreak in western Australia. The Anti-Terrorist Unit, including fan favourites Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, are sent to investigate. It will premier at EX Theater Roppongi in Tokyo in October.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is gearing up to shoot in South Africa, and as the title suggests, it will finally signal the end of the dreaded film series that the fans have been begging to end for years.

Then there’s also the episodic Resident Evil: Revelations 2, due for release later this year, which recently came under fire for the inclusion of micro transactions. It’s hardly surprising, though, considering Capcom’s severe financial woes.
