Sure, nowadays everyone knows him from “Boardwalk Empire,” but to us actor Michael Kenneth Williams will always be known as the Ghetto Boogeyman™ known as Omar from “The Wire”. Let me tell you, kids–RoboCop may have just met his match!

According to THR Williams is in negotiations to join the cast of RoboCop, MGM and Sony’s remake of the classic 1987 sci-fi action movie. If cast, Williams will play the partner to Joel Kinnaman’s police officer Alex Murphy who is tight with Murphy’s family.

Jose Padilha’s film is gearing up for a September start in Toronto and thus far stars Joel Kinnaman as the title hero, Hugh Laurie as the villain, plus Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley.

Currently RoboCop has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.

Synopsis
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

José Padilha (Elite Squad) directs this reimagining of the tale of part man, part machine, all cop.
