The Warlock of Firetop Mountain Gamebook from Warhammer Creators Becoming a Video Game

Back in 1982, a gamebook called The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was released and went on to spawn the hugely successful Fighting Fantasy series. It was co-authored by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, and if those names sound familiar, it’s because they also co-created Games Workshop and its Warhammer series, arguably the most famous tabletop fantasy games in the world (sorry, Dungeons & Dragons). It’s now getting the video game treatment courtesy of Australian developer Tin Man Games.

This won’t be the first time that The Warlock of Firetop Mountain has been adapted into a video game, with the first being released for the DS back in 2009. This new iteration is hoping to be the first in a series and promises to offer the most authentic, in-depth experience that fans could hope for.

And clearly the fans listened because the Kickstarter campaign has already reached nearly three times its $15,000 AUD goal without even being halfway through. You can contribute here if you feel that they could use any more money, and even if you don’t, they’ll still end the campaign with tons more than they had planned. That’s the power of nerd culture at work right there.
