Now let’s all call truce and relish in the news that Danny Elfman, the man behind the hauntingly epic Nightmare score and the singing voice of Jack Skellington, is returning to the Hollywood Bowl this Halloween after a successful series of performances at the arena the year prior.
The limited engagement, which runs from October 29th to October 30th, stars Elfman as The Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, along with other beloved Nightmare veterans reprising their speaking roles in the film. Catherine O’ Hara will be returning as Sally, the apple of Jack’s hollow eye socket. Paul Reubens, who voiced Lock, one of the three trick-or-treater henchmen of Oogie, is also appearing alongside his big bad boss in the film, Ken Page as Oogie Boogie.
The two-day scheduled performances will also feature conductor John Mauceri, who leads an orchestra and chorus into the beloved Burton soundtrack many of know by heart.
Last year the Bowl also hosted a Burton-inspired costume contest as show-goers who participated arrived in style as characters from their favorite Burton films ranging from the melancholy Edward Scissorhands to the Mad Hatter. With the success of last year’s event, audiences are encouraged to dress up again in Burton-esque fashion and participate in another contest.
