‘The Strangers’ Director Renny Harlin Teases The Horrors To Come In His New Trilogy [Watch]

The Strangers

Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers quite possibly ruined my young life when I saw it in theaters and I know I’m not alone in that experience. Bertino’s lean and very mean home invasion slasher was simple yet deeply nihilistic. Now, legendary director Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2, A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: Dream Masters) is creating a new vision of masked terror with an all-new trilogy.

The preliminary synopsis reads:

Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale) stars as a young woman starting a new life with her boyfriend. Suddenly, she becomes the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers, who attack without warning or reason. What begins as a fight to stay alive becomes one woman’s journey of courage and cunning in this compelling horror series.

We spoke with Renny Harlin and producer Courtney Solomon ahead of their panel at New York Comic Con about what we can expect from the upcoming trilogy. Highlights include a discussion of how all three films will take place in the span of just a few days, teasing how they wish to expand the psychology of these characters, and much more.
