GODZILLA VS KONG Director Explains How King Ghidorah “Haunts This Movie”

King Ghidorah was obliterated in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but the formidable beast my be rearing at least one of his ugly heads again when Godzilla vs Kong arrives in theaters and HBO Max on March 31st.

“I think in a subtle way, Ghidorah kind of haunts this movie,” Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard told ComicBook.com. He explains that the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters are still relatively recent in the next installment of Legendary’s MonsterVerse (Godzilla vs Kong)–but there may be much more to it than that.

Set visit recaps on various news outlets have revealed King Ghidorah’s skull has been outfitted with computers and machinery, leading many to conclude the brain within will “control” MechaGodzilla (who’s all but certain to make an appearance, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed).

Synopsis:
Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.  Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond.  But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe.  The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

Adam Wingard directs Godzilla Vs Kong from a script written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein. Terry Rossio, Michael Dougherty, and Zach Shields penned the story based on Godzilla by Toho and King Kong by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper.
