Ghost Radio by Leopoldo GoutLooking for a spooky story to set the mood on Halloween night? Thanks to the multi-talented Leopoldo Gout, your search could very well be over.

Gout is a graphic novelist, writer, composer, producer, and director whose first novel, Ghost Radio, was recently published by HarperCollins. Ghost Radio is described as follows: From the cramped bowels of a dimly lit Mexican radio station, Ghost Radio is beamed onto the airwaves. More than a call-in show to tell scary stories about vampires and poltergeists, Ghost Radio is a sanctuary for those sleepless denizens of the night, lost halfway between this world and the next. Before long a radio conglomerate offers to syndicate the cult show in the U.S., and Ghost Radio becomes a national success – at a price its host Joaquin soon begins to regret having paid. He is forced to confront his past and his own mortality in order to save that which is most precious to him and repair the crumbling wall between the living and the dead.

But Ghost Radio is more than just your run-of-the-mill paranormal thriller. Stunning graphic illustrations open each chapter, and Gout has also produced and created several supplemental video clips to accompany the book, one of which can be seen below. And Gout is far from your average writer. Having been raised in Mexico City, his understanding of the spiritual is very unique to the American interpretation of ghosts and spirits. The first apartment he grew up in was haunted, and he has many stories of the paranormal to tell. As he says in an interview found on Ghost Radio‘s official website, “To me, the supernatural is but only a heightened sense of what’s natural.”
