Rest in Peace: WWE Superstar George “The Animal” Steele

Growing up in the Seventies and Eighties, I loved the (then) WWF, and all of its superstars. In particular, George “The Animal” Steele. The man was a monstrous force of nature what with his green tongue and penchant for wrecking turnbuckles. He entertained millions for decades.
The Hall of Famer known to family and friends as William James Myers has passed away at age 79 after a long stay in Hospice. Outside of his wrestling career, Steele had a prominent role in Tim Burton’s 1994 film Ed Wood, in which he played Tor Johnson, a man who was himself a professional wrestler that appeared in a myriad of the B-movie director’s films.
We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Steele’s friends, family, and constituents. Thank you SO much for all that you’ve given us, sir. All the smiles, all the laughs, and all the thrills. You will be missed.
