Though the name may not jump out at you, fans of the original “Star Trek” and “The Twilight Zone” will be more than familiar with the work of George Clayton Johnson, as he’s penned some of the most memorable episodes of the series and more.

According to the Salem News, Johnson has passed away at age 86. Johnson wrote the very first episode of “Star Trek,” “The Man Trap,” and he went on to write seven original “Twilight Zone” episodes for series creator Rod Serling including “Nothing in the Dark,” “Kick the Can,” “A Game of Pool,” and “A Penny for Your Thoughts.” He also worked on Logan’s Run, Oceans 11, and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.”

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Johnson’s friends, family, and constituents. Thanks for the memories, George, and we sincerely hope you are currently traversing the mysteries of the universe! Bless you!

George Clayton Johnson
