Gallery 1988 Honors Ghostbusters with 30th Anniversary Traveling Art ShowThis year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Ghostbusters, one of the most iconic and beloved movies of all time. In tribute to our ghostbusting pals, Los Angeles’ Gallery 1988 is celebrating the film with a traveling art show, which fittingly kicks off this weekend in New York City.

From the Press Release
THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, April 19th, Gallery 1988 will begin its most ambitious, and secretive, project ever. We have teamed up with Sony Pictures to pay tribute to one of the greatest movies of all time, turning 30 this year: Ghostbusters.

We have produced a once-in-a-lifetime traveling art exhibit that features more than 70 artists creating original paintings, limited edition prints, sculptures, and apparel inspired by the classic comedy. It all kicks off properly in New York City THIS SATURDAY NIGHT from 7-10 PM at 69 Leonard St., near the famous firehouse from the film.

A majority of the artwork will ONLY BE AVAILABLE by attending one of the galleries in-person. A very small allotment of prints has been set aside for each city, with a smaller selection at our final San Diego Comic-Con stop. This is the ONLY way to purchase this artwork. There will be small surprises at each stop as well.

A commemorative series of special 30th Anniversary screenprints WILL BE AVAILABLE in limited amounts ONLINE, in addition to in-store, at ghostbusters30th.com. These will be released sporadically over the next month. This set consists of prints from Mike Mitchell, Phantom City Creative, Anthony Petrie, Tom Whalen, Tara McPherson, Dan Mumford, Dave Perillo, Lora Zombie, Godmachine, Rich Kelly (select cities), Mark Englert, DKNG, and Joshua Budich. When purchasing online, please read terms & conditions CAREFULLY, as combined shipping will be offered.

We also will have very small amounts of collaborative t-shirts from LRG, Johnny Cupcakes, Homage & Rebel8 at each stop.

The New York Ghostbusters gallery opens SATURDAY NIGHT, April 19th, with an opening reception from 7-10 PM. We will be open everyday through April 26th from 11-7 PM. Our next stop is Gallery 1988 (West) in Los Angeles on May 17th.
