Exclusive: Deathmension Poster Goes VR In Austin

Texas Frightmare Weekend is a great show for a number of reasons, one of which is that so many creative people come to network and promote their projects in the horror realm.

The most compelling and buzzworthy project I ran across at TFW 2017 is Deathmension, a mixed-media show that’s happening on Memorial Day down in Taylor, TX just outside Austin.

Dread Central has been given the exclusive final poster for the show, featuring a quote attained from Dario Argento at TFW 2017.  After describing the show to Argento, the grandmaster was asked if he’d attend.  What’s on the poster is his response, something director/producer Hunter Wayne calls a “badge of honor.”

Blending film, theater, and virtual reality, Deathmension will take patrons on a trip into horror in a seemingly abandoned theater in old town Taylor.  From the moment attendees arrive in that part of town, they will notice the lack of activity among all businesses in town aside the Howard Theatre.  After turning in their pre-purchased tickets at the box office, they’ll be set loose alone inside the theater for half an hour.

Once they arrive in the screening room, things expand beyond simple cinema.  Attendees will find a row of Samsung Gear VR headsets waiting for them.  What will they see if they put them on?  What will play on the screen?  Is there anyone else in the theater?

Deathmension features Texas Chainsaw Massacre legend Ed Neal alongside a mix of live and filmed castmembers in an interactive and terrifying blend of low and high tech using Samsung VR.

All of this goes down on Memorial Day, May 29th, in Taylor, TX.  However, future showings of Deathmension are possible depending on their success here, so here’s hoping we see more from director Hunter Wayne and his company Psycho Bastardo.

For tickets, hit up the official Deathmension site!
