Fans in attendance for the Repo! Shadowcast this past weekend during the after-hours portion of the San Diego Comic-Con got a real treat. Before the rock heavy shenanigans began, director Darren Bousman took to the mic and announced that as a means to thank the rabid fans who had shown up to the event, he had brought along a clip from his new film Mother’s Day. The crowd went batshit nuts! So what did you miss?

In the interest of not spoiling everything for you, we’re just going to give you the gist of things because having seen the movie (click here for our Mother’s Day review!), we can assure you the scene presented is pretty pivotal in its reveal.

The clip opened with several people bound and gagged around a column within Mother’s (Rebecca De Mornay) former residence. As you would imagine, Mother and her sons didn’t take kindly to finding people living in their beloved, yet foreclosed upon, home; and since these folks took something near and dear to her, she was about to do the same thing by burning their most personal of belongings in front of them. De Mornay is literally at her best and most sadistic in this moment, and the scene itself reaches a boiling point with every line of her dialogue. Not satisfied with just burning the belongings, Mother instructs Addley (Warren Kole) to go a step further. Not wanting to disobey his mama, Addley takes a bottle of alcohol, pours it over one of the victims’ heads, and proceeds to set the top of her scalp on fire while the others writhe in terror and agony. From there we cut to a trailer-like montage that offered a quick glimpse at some of the flick’s sickest parts until the title card showed up on the screen.

The fans went absolutely fuckin’ nuts. And they should! Mother’s Day packs quite a kick in the ass, and Bousman promised that it would be the “feel good” movie of next year!

Mother’s Day stars Rebecca De Mornay, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Jaime King, Shawn Ashmore, and Deborah Ann Woll. For more visit the official Mother’s Day website.
