US Wins Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie at Critics’ Choice Awards

Jordan Peele’s US ended up on a ton of top 10 lists this past year. And today we learned that the film won Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

It beat out other sci-fi or horror movies such as James Gray’s Ad Astra with Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones, Anthony & Joe Russo’s Avengers: Endgame with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, and Ari Aster’s Midsommar starring Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor.

The film follows Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) who returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child accompanied by her husband, son, and daughter. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.

Us was written and directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Jason Blum with Ian Cooper, Sean McKittrick, and Peele. It starred Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, and Tim Heidecker. Universal Pictures released it back on March 22, 2019.
