Exclusive: CopyCat Killers Clip Focuses on Serial Killer Inspired by RoboCop

The argument over whether or not violence in media affects people and their behavior has been going on for a long, long time. Concerned parents and organizations will always be eager to point their fingers at video games, music, television, movies, etc…, after a terrible tragedy. While I personally don’t agree with this line of thinking, there are many who do, which is where Reelz Channel’s show “CopyCat Killers” comes in.
The show discusses real-life murder cases where the killer was inspired by a Hollywood movie. Today, we’re giving you an exclusive sneak peek into the case of Nathaniel White, a serial killer from the New York Hudson Valley who claims that his first murder was inspired by RoboCop 2. Episode Synopsis:
For most people the Robocop movie franchise presents entertaining films that are action-packed with violence and extreme gore. For one resident of Poughkeepsie, New York, the movie inspired him to become a serial killer. Nathaniel White had an appetite for the brutal on-screen violence. The episode re-enacts his searches on the streets and the bars for women to murder. He picks his targets and uses his charms to lure the victim in. Once they feel safe and secure, he becomes the movie villain that he admires, killing just like they did in Robocop.

This series goes behind the headlines of real-life murder cases which copy memorable slayings seen in Hollywood movies. Each episode features a mystifying murder scene and law enforcement’s hunt for the killer. Whether it’s two high school students terrorizing and killing a female classmate to copy the horror blockbuster Scream or the gruesome acts of pig farmer and serial killer, Robert Pickton, who copied Hannibal and fed his victims to his pigs—these horrific scenes actually happened but very few people know the real stories that led to these killings.
