Tesco Apologizes for Selling Coolest Coloring Book Ever – Colour Me Good, Arrggghhhh

Know your audience! British online sales giant Tesco was recently scolded for selling a controversial coloring book. Colour Me Good, Arrggghhhh was marketed as a children’s coloring book but actually features images from classic horror films! Awesome!

With pages for children to color that feature things like Janet Leigh’s classic Psycho shower scene, a Jaws-themed water skiing pic and the unforgettable “Heeeere’s Johnny” scene from The Shining, among others, buyers quickly shit themselves when shopping for children’s gifts. Okay, maybe it’s not the perfect present for an elementary school child, but damn, I know I want one!

While looking for a birthday present for his seven-year-old grandson, Chris Tuckwood, 56, of Spondon, Derby, UK, discovered the book on Tesco.com and raised a stink. “It was advertised as being suitable for kids from five to eight – I don’t think so,” Tuckwood said. “It is unbelievable that they can sell such a thing aimed at kids. I don’t think I have to say why it’s unsuitable; that much is obvious. Who on earth are they employing that thinks this is okay?” OMG! Relax, dude.

Tesco.com withdrew the book from sale, which they say was placed on their site by a third-party retailer. Whoops! Maybe somebody at Tesco should have recognized the cover image of the Psycho shower scene and could have realized this probably wasn’t the best item for kids who are more familiar with “Spongebob Squarepants” than Psycho.

“We have very clear guidelines for third-party sellers who list items on our website and are sorry that on this occasion they weren’t followed,” said a backpedaling Tesco spokesman. “We will be speaking with the seller to remind them of the importance of selecting the right category when listing products with us.”

Now the answer to the question you’ve all been asking: Where the hell can I get my own copy of Colour Me Good, Arrggghhhh? The original seller, Prezzybox.com, still has a few copies left. Go get yours now! Prezzybox.com managing director Zak Edwards acknowledged the book “isn’t suitable for children” and said, “This mistake came to light in the national press, who rightly picked up upon this error. We apologize for this mistake and will work hard to ensure this doesn’t happen again.” Ah, no worries, guys. It’s all good.
