While Bill & Ted Face The Music with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter is still set to hit later this year, today we have word that the first film in the trilogy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is heading back to theaters in 4K.

The 4K restoration will be available on 4K UHD Blu-ray, limited edition Steelbook, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on August 10th.

Directed by Stephen Herek from a screenplay written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon it follows Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves), high school buddies starting a band. However, they are about to fail their history class, which means Ted would be sent to military school. They receive help from Rufus (George Carlin), a traveler from a future where their band is the foundation for a perfect society. With the use of Rufus’ time machine, Bill and Ted travel to various points in history, returning with important figures to help them complete their final history presentation.
It sports an 80% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are just charming, goofy, and silly enough to make this fluffy time-travel Adventure work.
