Stephen King-Penned Picture Book Charlie the Choo-Choo an Easter Egg for Dark Tower Fans

On November 22, Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers will publish Charlie the Choo-Choo, written by Stephen King and published under the pseudonym of Beryl Evans—a character in King’s novel The Waste Lands, part of The Dark Tower series.

Charlie the Choo-Choo is publishing just in time for The Dark Tower movie, which releases in February 2017 starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. Having sold over 30 million copies to date, The Dark Tower series has a devoted fan base who will no doubt rush to pick up this Easter egg item.

In a blurb for the book, King says, “If I were ever to write a children’s book, it would be just like this!”
