Astor + Blue Editions released Chandler McGrew’s Blind Spot, a new horror novel set in a quaint Maine town, last week; and with its logline of “Burn-out Detective Teams with Blind-Deaf Teen in Terrifying Occult Struggle to Survive,” we thought we’d give you a heads-up in case you’re looking to inject some supernatural suspense into your spring.

Blind Spot introduces readers to teenager Pierce Morin, born blind and deaf, but with the ability to hear voices from evil forces. Detective Jake Crowley, just returning from self-imposed exile, tries to help Pierce, knowing that redemption from his tortured past lies in unlocking the secrets to the boy’s gifts and somehow defeating the invisible terrors that threaten them all.

McGrew (author of four prior novels including Cold Heart and Night Terror) sets Blind Spot apart from others in this genre with his taut writing style and fast-paced horror scenes.

Synopsis:
In a small Maine valley, thirteen-year-old Pierce Morin, born blind and deaf, possesses a terrifying gift: He can hear evil whispering. And now he knows an elusive, deadly force is stalking the people he loves.

Meanwhile, Detective Jake Crowley, who’d long ago run away from the valley, has returned. A bizarre shootout in Galveston, Texas, finally draws him back Maine—to a woman he can barely face, to the unsolved mystery of his mother’s murder, and to a township that’s fallen under the spell of a serial killer.

For Jake, redemption lies in unlocking the mystery of Pierce’s gifts and hoping the boy can show him a way to stop the terrors that plague him. But while young Pierce can begin the search, only Jake can finish it—by looking evil in the eye, and claiming a terrifying birthright.

Blind Spot is a fast-paced, horrifying tale that will keep you turning pages all night—with the lights on! McGrew sets the tone for a new generation of terrifying literature.
