Bill Plympton's Hair High DVD Now AvailableBill Plympton’s Hair High, the world’s first animated “rom-zom-prom-com”, is now available on DVD direct from the writer/director/animator’s website.

The film, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2004 and won festival awards at FantAsia in Montreal, Animadrid in Spain, and Anifest Trebon in the Czech Republic, features the voice talents of Sarah Silverman, Dermot Mulroney, Eric Gilliland, Keith Carradine, Beverly D’Angelo, David Carradine, Martha Plimpton, Michael Showalter, Ed Begley, Jr., and Justin Long.

Synopsis:
An outrageous Gothic myth from the 1950’s, Hair High is the legend of Cherri (Silverman) and Spud (Gilliland), a teenage couple who are murdered on prom night and left for dead at the bottom of Echo Lake. Exactly one year later their skeletal remains come back to life, and they return to the prom for revenge and their justly-deserved crowns.

The DVD’s special features include:

• Director’s Commentary
• Scene Breakdown and Voice-over Sessions
• Anicam
• “Cockstume”
• Film Premiere Interviews
• Trailers

Unfortunately, that tiny picture at the beginning of this article is the best look at the DVD cover art we could find. But below is the trailer, which should give you a pretty good idea of what Plympton’s tale is all about.

Visit the official Bill Plympton website for ordering information and the redesigned Hair High site for inside info on the story, cast, the animator’s backgrounds, and trailers for the film.

In addition, the DVD will be on sale at San Diego Comic-Con (July 21st-25th), where Bill Plympton will host a panel about the DVD release and will be available in Booth 5552 to autograph copies of Hair High and other merchandise.
