Fairy Tale Heroines Assemble for The Asylum’s Avengers Grimm

AvengersGrimmThe Asylum remains steadfast in its opposition to doing superhero mockbusters. The company does, however, love the Grimm fairy tales. Having four of the most famous fairy tale heroines join forces to save our world from a Loki-esque nemesis in a comic book/cosplay tour-de-force entitled Avengers Grimm is probably the closest we’ll ever get to them doing a superhero flick.

Synopsis:
When Rumpelstiltskin destroys the Magic Mirror and escapes to the modern world, the four princesses of Once Upon a Time—Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Rapunzel—are sucked through the portal too. Well-trained and endowed with magical powers, they must fight Rumpelstiltskin and his army of thralls before he enslaves everyone on earth.

Honestly, this sounds no less silly than most of the plot lines on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.”

I assume “well-trained” means they all know some form of kung fu, and by “magical powers” I’m really hoping it means Rapunzel has hair-snaring abilities, Sleeping Beauty can put villains to sleep, Cinderella controls glass, and (fingers crossed) Snow White hurls exploding apples like the Green Goblin.

The cast of writer/director Jeremy M. Inman’s fantasy fight flick includes the likes of Casper Van Dien, Lou Ferrigno, and former UFC fighter Kimo Leopoldo. At least two of the four heroines will be played by Rileah Vanderbilt and Milynn Sarley of Team Unicorn.

Look for Avengers Grimm on March 17th.
