Altered States of PlaineWe love reporting stories like these about indie features that find success. Read on for the details of what’s coming up for Nick Gaglia’s Altered States of Plaine.

Nick dropped us a line yesterday with the following update on his film: Since its world premiere in Brazil last May, Altered States of Plaine (or rather Estados Alterados de Plaine) has taken Latin America by storm! After playing at Fantaspoa – International Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil, Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, Buenos Aires Rojos Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Post Mortem Film Festival in Mexico, and Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay (where it won a screenwriting award), the indie feature has been picked up by Turner Broadcasting and will be making it television debut starting this summer all over Latin America.

Filmmaker Gaglia (visit his official site here) was approached by a Turner exec in Porte Alegre, Brazil, immediately after the film’s world premiere screening at Fantaspoa. This marks the first time a film at Fantaspoa has sold directly because of playing at the festival.

In addition, he was invited back to Brazil to present Altered States of Plaine at the 2013 World Social Forum in Porto Alegre and will be there from January 26th-30th.

Shot in four countries including France, Italy, Switzerland, and the US, Altered States of Plaine is a sci-fi tinged psycho-drama about a young man on the run from a mysterious government agency who is desperate to find a cure for a condition that causes him to wake up at random places around the world when he falls asleep. The film stars George Gallagher (Over the GW, Aaron Bacon) as the film’s protagonist, Emanuel Plaine, and Kether Donohue (The Bay, Pitch Perfect) as Violet, a girl Emanuel rescues from being killed, who in turn helps him get his life back together.

Put together by an A-list crew consisting of editor Alex Hammer (who just won an MTV VMA award for editing Beyonce’s “Countdown”), cinematographer Jon Fordham, sound designer Anthony R. Milch (Batman, Superman, Tron), sound mixer Andrew Kay (Emmy winner), and composers Jon St. James (Grammy nominee) and Marc Ribler.

Gaglia is also currently developing the story into an hourlong television series.

He sent us a few new stills from the film to share, which are below, and for more info visit the Altered States of Plaine Facebook page.
