Rest in Peace: Abe Vigoda

When it comes to character actors, few in the history of the business had more character than Abe Vigoda. The man’s body of work is nothing short of staggering. Today it’s with great sadness that we report Vigoda has passed on at age 94.

Though Vigoda will forever be remembered as the snarky detective Phil Fish on “Barney Miller” and the doomed mafioso Tessio in The Godfather franchise, he touched our genre many times over the course of his great career, including roles in “Dark Shadows,” “Suspense,” “Tales from the Dark Side,” “Monsters,” The Devil’s Daughter, The Stuff, and the horror anthology The Unknown Trilogy.

We here at Dread Central would like to offer our sincerest of condolences to Abe’s friends, family, and constituents. Thank you for all of the wonderful film and television moments, sir. Godspeed.
