Stephen King Calls This Free To Watch Movie “A suspense-horror masterpiece”

When iconic author Stephen King isn’t hard at work on his next literary effort, he often makes time to catch up on movies and television. The master of horror has turned us unto some truly exceptional finds over the years and we are back with yet another suggestion from the prolific scribe today.
In a previous conversation with BFI, the celebrated author took the opportunity to sing the praises of Henri-Georges Clouzot’s chilling masterpiece, Diabolique. In fact, King went so far as to say that Clouzot “Out-Hitchcocked Hitchcock”.
“Clouzot’s Les Diaboliques, his suspense-horror masterpiece, as terrifying now as it was back in 1955. He out-Hitchcocked Hitchcock.”

This iconic French film has certainly amassed an audience of dedicated cinephiles in the years since its 1955 release. But the picture still remains somewhat under-seen outside certain circles. So, if you’ve yet to experience this cinematic masterpiece for yourself, or if you’re due for a repeat visit, you’re in luck. Official plot synopsis provided by Google Movies: In this classic of French suspense, the cruel and abusive headmaster of a boarding school, Michel Delassalle (Paul Meurisse), becomes the target of a murder plot hatched by an unlikely duo — his meek wife (Vera Clouzot) and the mistress he brazenly flaunts (Simone Signoret). The women, brought together by their mutual hatred for the man, pull off the crime but become increasingly unhinged by a series of odd occurrences after Delassalle’s corpse mysteriously disappears.
