Yen Preps for Painted Skin
Whoa. Not sure how we missed this one folks, let me be the first to apologize. Donnie Yen (pictured) and Zhou Xun are set to star in Painted Skin, a supernatural thriller being lensed in China that's been in the works since at least July.
The film is a remake of Hong Kong movie of the same name from 1965, though with a much bigger budget and higher-caliber cast. So I guess we’re not the only country suffering such things, eh? Here’s the “whoa” part; Painted Skin centers around a vampire-like woman who eats the skin and heart of her lovers. Nasty!
Originally Wilson Yip and Andy Wing-Keung Chin were set to co-direct the film, but now they’ve been replaced by Gordon Chan according to Daily Variety, and the budget has climbed from $10 million to $15. Shooting is underway now, set to continue until February with a Christmas 2008 release in mind. Nothing like skin-eating women to celebrate the holidays with!
