Writer Talks Killer Car Flick Hybrid

Hybrid writer talks!Last week we had a slew of new trailers to show off to you, one of which was for a new movie from Malefique/One Missed Call (remake) helmer Eric Vallette called Hybrid. Not to be confused with the monster movie of the same name, also in development, this Hybrid is about a predatorial car that eats people. Of course.

STYD got to chat with screenwriter Neal Marshall Stevens about Hybrid recently, and he gave up a bit more information on what it’s about, namely a creature that has perfected the art of camouflage. ””It functioned by disguising itself and as it moved through history, it disguised itself through different things. And now in the modern age it can disguise itself as cars.” All right, that only makes sense … ”How it would feed is disguise itself as a nondescript car no one would notice during the day and at night it would change, where no one would notice, into a really cool wealthy-looking car. It would leave its doors unlocked, wait for someone to try and climb in to steal it. Then it would lock its doors, block out its windows and flood the inside with digestive juices – and that’s how it would feed.”

Sounds like it’d be a lot of fun at parties! The film itself is about what happens when the car gets into an accident and is knocked unconscious, waking up in a police garage and wanting out. Now. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun or really cheesy — the jury’s still out on which — but either way it’s different, and I can’t complain about that.

No word on what Marshall’s next project, The Amityville Tapes, will actually be about (he’s keeping as tight-lipped as possible about it), but if it’s anything like the other films in the franchise, I doubt it’ll be worth losing any sleep over.

Check out the Hybrid trailer below, and keep it here for more news on its status as we get it!
