Whedon’s Dollhouse Set for Mid-Season

Dushku in DollhouseHey, all you Joss Whedon junkies, whose number I proudly count myself among. As you may have noticed, there’s more and more news out there about new TV shows being picked up, so of course the question of Whedon’s new one, “Dollhouse” with former Slayer Eliza Dushku, has been asked.

According to Deadline Hollywood, “Dollhouse” was picked up for mid-season by, who else, Fox. That’s a bit frightening, considering what they did to Whedon’s last show, “Firefly”, and the backlash from that. Here’s hoping “Dollhouse” fares better.

For those still in a haze, here’s an official synopsis for the show: Eliza Dushku plays a young woman named Echo, a member of a group of people known as “Actives” or “Dolls” who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They’re then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed “The Dollhouse”. The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

Sounds like it could be pretty badass; here’s hoping Fox doesn’t drop the ball on yet another Whedon show!
