Another very interesting name has joined the cast of Universal’s upcoming remake of The Wolfman according to today’s Variety: former Smith and Elf King Hugo Weaving.
Weaving will take on the role of Detective Aberline, who likely will be in pursuit of the beast that he is unaware Larry Talbot (executive producer Benicio del Toro) is becoming. Sir Anthony Hopkins will play Talbot’s father, as you know.
Joe Johnston took the directorial reins when One Hour Photo director Mark Romanek committed what many consider to be career suicide and left the project. Cameras roll on The Wolfman in London next month, working from a script re-written by Road to Perdition penner David Self.

Detective Aberline? As in Jack the Ripper-era Detective Aberline?

Well at the very least the cast is shaping up quite nicely.
