Want to Make a Horror Game?

Eerie Horror Film Festival call for horror games!Around the world film festivals, both horror and otherwise, are always looking for new and interesting ways to differentiate themselves from the crowd. Most have open calls for short or indie films in order to provide even more content to their lineup, always a good way to get filmmakers exposure, but where’s the love for the horror-obsessed gaming community?

Apparently it’s in Erie, PA of all places. Today the Eerie Horror Film Festival announced a new segment of their show dedicated to all aspects of horror gaming and have put out a call to anyone with any interest in the field to show ‘em what they got. Categories like “Game Design”, “Character Development”, “Environment Design”, and more will be considered, though they’re not asking anyone to actually create a video game (unless, of course, they can). Numerous awards will be offered up to those with the best ideas, most realized concepts, or most fully functional games, depending on what is submitted.

A pretty interesting idea to give those of you who may have always wanted to show off your game creation skills but have never had the outlet. And who knows what kind of people they may have looking over entries … more info on this year’s Eerie Horror Film Festival (which our own Uncle Creepy is on the Advisory Board of) is available at the official EHFF site, with the official rules for Video Game Competition being available right here. Good luck!
