Villainy for Valentines!

The Demonology of Desire!Long before he started making movies full time, Rodrigo Gudino was the editor in chief of Rue Morgue Magazine, which is how I first came to know him. When he announced that he would formally step down from the position to follow his dream of being a filmmaker, I admit I was a bit nervous as to what his output would be like.

So far, so good; both short films Rodrigo has directed, “The Eyes of Edward James” (review) and “The Demonology of Desire” (review) have been winning awards and accolades all over the world. Finally they’re both making their way to New York City next month in the first of what will hopefully be an on-going short-film showcase at the Pioneer Theater.

The program is being dubbed “Valentine Villainy: An Evening of Short Horror Films About Love and Desire” and will debut on February 11th, 2008 at the Pioneer. Both “Eyes” and “Demonology” will play, as well as “Girls, Guns & Goblins: Making The Demonology of Desire” and Phil Mucci’s award-winning short “The Listening Dead”.

Both Gudino and Mucci will be on-hand for post-film Q&As and swag bags filled with horrific goodies will be provided by Rue Morgue,. Check out the Pioneer’s official site for all the details you’ll need, and check out the trailer for “Demonlogy of Desire” and “The Eyes of Edward James” below!
