Update on Herzog's My Son, My Son

Thanks to /film, we learned today that filming is set to commence in March on the Werner Herzog helmed production My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. Cameras will roll in both Peru and the Coronado Island region of California.
Some casting news came down as well. Along with the previously announced Michael Shannon (Bug, pictured), Udo Kier, Grace Zabriskie, Willem Defoe, and Chloe Sevigny have all signed on to the project, which is loosely based on the true tale of a San Diego man who believes himself in a Sophocles play and, accordingly, slaughters his mother with a sword. Scenes of the murder will be mixed into the plot line as flashbacks, and we’ll get to know the killer very well indeed. It's assumed Shannon will play the son and Zabriskie the mother.
Herzog explains his attraction to the project thusly: "I always wanted to make a horror film, but not with bloody axes and chain-saws. An anonymous fear should rather creep up at you.”
I'm a huge fan of all the parties involved, including David Lynch, who is credited as an executive producer, so this is one we'll be watching closely!

See, I knew that was going to happen ... what I was saying was it'd be shocking if it were anyone but Werner. Since it is Werner, however, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he resurrected the dead just for his film.

I'm pretty sure Herzog can pull a trick and bring Kinski on board. That would be really shocking....

Just the idea of torturing Herzog for the rest of his natural life might indeed be a good offer for Kinski (what a really really good actor) to walk again among the living.
