I question if anyone still cares about a remake of A Tale of Two Sisters nowadays, when J-horror (and yes, I know it's technically K-horror) finally seems to have run it’s course with US audiences, but I guess it depends on if they can make it as good as the original.
Either way the first casting news came down today via The Hollywood Reporter. Elizabeth Banks (Spider Man 3) has been announced to play the evil stepmother, in a story about siblings who come home from years in a mental institution, only for their recovery to be blocked by a very cruel stepmother and a disinterested father. A somewhat persistent ghost doesn’t help matters much, either.
Craig Rosenberg (Half Light, After the Sunset) adapted the screenplay for Dreamworks, and the remake will be helmed by Thomas and Charles Guard. Do you find it creepy that they hired brothers to direct a film about sisters? Yeah, me either.
Shooting on the new A Tale of Two Sisters is expected to start this July in Sheveport, LA. We’ll have more casting as we get closer!
