They Live Remake Official
Aw, goddamnit. That was the first thought that passed through my head when I read the headline on THR this morning that John Carpenter’s classic alien conspiracy film, They Live, is going to be remade. Universal and Strike Entertainment are in negotiations with rights holder Les Moughs to acquire the film rights.
The remake will be executive produced by Moughs and John Carpenter, who’s never been shy about selling off his movies for a quick buck in the past. That's why we have to live in a world where a horrible remake of The Fog exists.
Hopefully they will do what remakes should do and take what worked in the original and improve upon it, but when was the last time that happened? Honestly I would say the Dawn of the Dead redux which was, encouragingly, also from Universal and Strike Entertainment...
No writers or directors have been mentioned for the project yet, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears open and let you know when we hear more!

Hammer Films continues to prove that they’re done messing around with direct-to-online films and are ready to start working on serious movies today with the first casting for Antti J. Jokinen’s The Resident: Oscar winner Hilary Swank, according to Variety.

If you ask me, if this was done on a grander scale then the original, it could possibly work. And the one person i could see replacing Rowdy with would be Mickey Rourke, just make him a total bad ass in the thing. But I think if they expanded on the film's universe this could turn into a trilogy, if only done properlly.

The first thing to pass through my mind when I saw this was "Grrrr..."
No way can you improve upon the alley fight scene. Also, some may argue with me, but NO ONE can replace "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
However, maybe they could fix the ending, but I would still rather see a spin-off television show than this remake.
