Telephone for Bava

The TelephoneWithout question one of Mario Bava's best films was a little anthology called Black Sabbath. Each of the stories contained in this masterpiece has enough dread, suspense, and terror to make even the most jaded of viewers a little antsy.

One of those tales, The Telephone is getting a bit of a redux. As an homage to Bava, a group of aspiring filmmakers known as Black Sunday Films have put their own spin on the tale of phoned in mayhem.

"It is mainly a tribute to the great Mario Bava, the godfather of horror," says director Jon Lewis. "The mission is to bring a new edge to a truly classic style, so the decision was made to film The Telephone in black and white. Also, it has to sound as good as it looks, so we've got Docion working on the soundtrack. You can expect that the score will have that Argento feel to it to help thicken the atmosphere."

The Telephone will start making its rounds on the indie festival circuit all over the country beginning this September. Check out the teaser trailer here and keep your ears open! This is one call you may not want to miss.
