Studio 407 Picks Hybrid

You may recall a news story we did last month about a new deal inked between Myriad Pictures and comic creator Studio 407 (“Studio 407 Gets Myriad Deal” – December 2007). At the time there were two possible film projects that would mark the first of what both sides hope are many; today Variety reports that it’s been narrowed down to one: Hybrid.
In Hybrid a group of college friends (ugh) come across a seemingly abandoned trawler. Unfortunately for them, it’s actually the nest of a creature whose pastime is to fish for humans on the open sea. Gunplay (I’m sure) ensues.
Peter Kwong, who wrote the Hybrid comic, will be handling the film’s screenplay with shooting expected to start in mid-2008 near Thailand. The comic is due out in June, so keep an eye on your local comic book shop for it. Hit up Studio 407’s official site for more on the book, and keep it here for more on the movie!
