Director Marc Lougee at AFI DallasAfter a long period of silence we finally got word from animator/director Marc Lougee (pictured) about his long awaited stop-motion short The Pit and the Pendulum, which has the dubious honor of being produced by the master of stop motion animation, Ray Harryhausen.

In the moments of quiet since we last spoke a lot has happened; the film is done, the official site has been updated, and an impressive amount of screenings have been lined up for it.

For you Canadians, The Pit and the Pendulum will be playing as part of the Toronto Student Film Festival which runs March 30-31. If you don’t feel like hanging out with a bunch of college students to see it, you can head over to the World Horror Convention in Toronto, where it will play on Friday, March 30th at 10pm.

For those of you in the great state of Texas, check out AFI Dallas on March 30th, where the film will be competing as part of the Animation Program. Or, if you’re on the East Coast, you can hit Philadelphia, where it will play along with Head Trauma (review). More info on that is right here.

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with when and where it’s playing from here on out, but be sure to keep an eye on the official Pit and the Pendulum site for updates as well!
