Stitcher Weaves His Way Home

Stitcher is coming to DVD!Low budget slasher flicks released direct-to-video really are a dime a dozen so I’m not really sure what it is about The Stitcher that peaks my interest. Perhaps it’s the killer’s button fetish or his habit of taking stuff from his victims and then sewing it onto his own body? Maybe I’m amused by the notion of a movie slasher capable of hauling ass (as seen in the film’s trailer) unlike the countless lumbering slashers we usually get? Or maybe it’s because the film hails from a two-woman moviemaking duo as opposed to the proto-typical male horror filmmakers? I don’t know what exactly it is, but consider me intrigued.

“Something strange is happening in this eerie backwoods town. An ordinary town that could be miles from your own home. Inspired by true events, a group of friends must survive the weekend in order to escape the terror that is beyond their imagination. Desperate and fearing for their lives, the horror surges when a legendary killer wants something they all posses. They soon find out the town is not what it seems, and with no hope of rescue, they must find their way out before they fall victim to the Stitcher’s obsession. This blood curdling story is a shock a minute horror rush, that will make you never want to wear certain pieces of clothing again.”

Next Monkey Horror, the oddly named production company behind The Stitcher, claims their little horror flick is inspired by true events. Somehow I suspect those events are about as true as the events that inspired the Coen Brothers to make Fargo.

VCI Entertainment is set to distribute The Stitcher on DVD beginning October 2nd. You can check out the film’s trailer(s) and much more by logging onto the official Stitcher website or The Stitcher‘s MySpace page. Give it a look. This one might turn out to be a nice surprise.
