Slamdance Wants Blood

There are more and more film festivals out there these days and each one is trying to do something a bit different to set themselves apart from the crown. Slamdance is one of the oldest, approaching it’s 13th year, and has always been a bit different for the simple fact that it runs concurrently with the Sundance Film Festival in the same town; Park City, Utah. They’ve just made an announcement that should set them apart even more from the group in years to come; they promise to make your horror movie.

In a deal signed with Angel Baby Entertainment, Slamdance has announced that the winning screenplay in their newly created screenplay contest will be produced by the folks at Angel Baby Entertainment, who will pay the screenwriter $10,000 for all screenplay rights (against 5% of the budget). The film will be produced using the facilities at Liberty Studios, the oldest continually running studio in New York.

The director and production team for the film will be selected by Slamdance and Angel Baby from Slamdance alumni, which includes a pretty impressive roster of indie filmmakers. What the hell do you have to lose?

But if you want to get your screenplay in for consideration you’d better move your ass; they’ve just extended the deadline to December 11th, 2006. Click here for all the details you’ll need to get your script in consideration, and good luck!
