Shyamalan to Produce Night Chronicles

M. Night ready to expand his empire...M. Night Shyamalan isn’t fully stepping out from behind his ego yet, but this is a step in the right direction. Variety announced this morning that the man who made The Happening and has yet to apologize for it has inked a deal with Media Capitol Rights to produce a thriller per year under a banner known as The Night Chronicles.

Shyamalan won’t write or direct, so there’s a relief, but the films that are produced will be based on stories he comes up with, and he'll be choosing the writers and directors for the projects. No one’s been hired for anything yet, but he’s already got at least two ideas that will kick off the series.

"Filmmakers have always been my inspiration," Shyamalan told the trade. "Working with the next wave of innovative filmmakers will teach me many things that I can bring to my own writing/directing and give my stories the opportunity to be brought to the screen in a stunning way."

He does have a point there. Could it be Shyamalan is finally convinced the he needs the help of others to get back to creating films that actually make sense? Here’s hoping!

Yes! Great photo. I cannot STAND M. Night. Haven't liked him since The Sixth Sense. Thought that was ok, but NOTHING else since has been ANY GOOD. Especially Signs. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MOVIE.

Yeah but it's still going in the right direction. The guy needs a bridge to audiences and maybe this will be it.
