Showtime Hires Exterminators

Exterminators come to ShowtimeShowtime has teamed up with the executive producer behind “Dexter”, Sara Colleton, to bring the Vertigo Comic Exterminators to the small screen according to this morning’s THR.

Exterminators follows an ex-con who joins an exterminator company, working alongside a very strange cast of characters. Bugs that are way more dangerous than they have any right to be, mysterious circumstances surrounding his girlfriend and the manufacturer of an insect poison make his job very interesting, indeed.

"Exterminator" is being described as “Six Feet Under”, just set in the world of pest control. In the Showtime version, the crew of Bug-Be-Gone will have to battle their own inner demons and personal vices, which are far more dangerous than the rodents and bugs they put down on a daily basis.

So it sounds like it might be a little more tame than the comic, but we’ll hold out hope for at least one giant cockroach!

I just keep chanting "DEX-TER! DEX-TER! DEX-TER!" in the back of my mind...THAT I can't wait for.

This is going to rock. Great comic, but I'd rather see the long-gestating "Preacher" series.

I'm not sure I want that one to see the light of day--that is, if Mark Steven Johnson remains attached....

Gonna be similar to "Six Feet Under," eh? Ugh, yawn...

Nope, I'm not kidding you. I didn't hate Six Feet Under, but I sure as hell didn't like it. It just didn't move me, in any way imaginable. The acting was good, and it featured (for the most part) very believable story arcs, but I just couldn't bring myself to care.

That being said, I love everything else Alan Ball has done, and although I think True Blood looks a bit more ... kinky ... than the books upon which it is based, I think it will be a cool series nonetheless.
