Severance Director to Helm Black Death

Black Death sales art! It’s been a long time since we’ve heard hide or hair about Black Death, the post-apocalyptic medieval film we first mentioned back in February. Thankfully we can not only give you more on the film itself, but the goods news that Severance (review) director Christopher Smith is now at the helm!

Originally set to be directed by Geoff Sax, Smith has put his name on the director’s chair for Black Death, which won’t really be getting underway until Smith finishes Triangle. The sickos at Quiet Earth managed to track down the sales art you see on your right, as well as this official synopsis...

Medieval England has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. In this apocalyptic world, filled with fear and superstition, a young monk called Osmund is charged in leading a fearsome knight, Ulric and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer - someone able to bring the dead back to life. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his hearts desire, the horror of his real journey begins.

Lena Heady, Sean Bean, and Rupert Friend are still on board to star in the film, which is good news. Keep it here for Black Death updates as they come in!
