Searchlight Finds Joshua

Fox Searchlight to release JoshuaFox Searchlight proved that they’re still in the game of getting new horror out there during last week’s Sundance with the purchase of almost wordwide rights to George Ratliff’s Joshua (no relation to the Travis Betz movie of the same name) according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ratliff’s last gig was the highly praised documentary Hell House, about a haunted house in Texas run by a group of Christians who aim to literally put the fear of God into you.

Joshua follows a more narrative path, telling of the titular disturbed child who slowly turns the lives of his family upside down through his disturbing actions when a new child is brought into the household. Little else has been said about it, other than it compares well to the original Omen mixed with Rosemary’s Baby.

Shot in 25 days by Irreversible cinematographer Benoit Debie, Joshua should be making its way into theaters sometime this summer.
