Saw VI Director Speaks!

Though I know he was kidding, at one point in an interview done by Fearnet with “>Saw VI director Kevin Greutert, he mentions he hopes there’s a breatkthrough in time travel technology so they have a good way to bring back Shawnee Smith’s character, Amanda. That’s about what this series needs to get me back in theaters for it.
Time jumping notwithstanding, the interview is a good one, giving insight into the director’s head as to how he’s approaching the franchise. Since he’s edited all five movies to date, I think it’s safe to say he’s got a good idea of what works and what doesn’t in the series. Particularly with the Saw films, as an editor I’m very conscious of not wasting time with shoe leather,” he explained. ”I’m always thinking about how to be as economical as possible so we’re not wasting time, and it lets you control the pace much better. It really lets you understand what we don’t need to see and still understand the story.”
Hopefully that doesn’t mean more jump cuts and choppy, painful editing to move things along, but since that’s what this series is all about, I won’t hold out much hope for anything changing too much.
As of now they still don’t know what Saw VI will be about, but Greutert says that they’ve got hundreds of pages of possibilities, which Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are sifting through now to come up with a good script. That would be a welcome change from “>Saw V.
