Not that anyone will be surprised, but Saw IV (review) continued the franchise’s annual ownage of the box office this year with a take of $32.1 million opening weekend, easily murdering (pun intended) the competition as if Jigsaw himself had something against ‘em.
It’s just short of how well Saw III did last year and better than Saw II, but really who’s counting any more? The point is the movies are kicking ass and taking names and Lionsgate really knows a good thing when it has it on its hands. Two more years of Saw movies and then what? That’s what I want to know…
And in case you’re curious, last week’s number 1, 30 Days of Night (review), only dropped to #3 this weekend, which just makes me a very happy man indeed. Viva la horror!
