34th Annual Saturn Awards Nominees AnnouncedGood news for anyone suffering from awards show deprivation now that the Oscars are over: The nominees for the 34th Annual Saturn Awards have been announced, and it’s quite a race!

Saturn Awards are handed out by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror, a non-profit organization founded in 1972 whose membership is open to the public. Categories include Best Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Action/Adventure/Thriller, Animated, and International Films; and among those vying for that beautiful statue you see on the right are:

Two special awards will be given this year: Guillermo del Toro will receive the coveted George Pal Memorial Award, and author Tim Lucas has been singled out to receive a Special Achievement Award for his 2007 book Mario Bava: All the Colors of the Dark, which he worked on for over 20 years along with his wife, Donna Lucas.
