Hazel Court passes away at 82The sad news of the death of Hazel Court, the British actress who appeared in such horror classics as The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Curse of Frankenstein, showed up on the Net today. Court was 82 and passed away at her home near Lake Tahoe as the result of a heart attack.

The actress, who co-starred with genre icons Boris Karloff and Vincent Price among others, achieved cult status and, according to her daughter, Sally Walsh, continued to receive fan mail every month, all of which she responded to personally. “She was one of the great beauties of all time,” Walsh said. “She was a redhead with really green eyes and almost … the perfect face. She was on the cover of almost every magazine.

She recently completed her autobiography, Hazel Court – Horror Queen, which is being released by Tomahawk Press this summer and you can pre-order from Evilshop. Besides acting and writing, Court was a sculptor and painter whose works have appeared in numerous galleries.

Court is survived by daughters Walsh and Courtney Taylor, son Jonathan Taylor, and stepdaughters Anne Taylor Fleming and Avery Taylor. Our condolences go out to all of Hazel’s friends and family members.
